Touring to Bandung : 7 Objects to Visit

Bandung is the second biggest city in Indonesia. Although the city is very modern and developed, Bandung still has many tourism spots which mostly are natural, cultural, and educational. Thus, Bandung is a great destination for family holiday. Here are some nice objects to visit around Bandung:

1. Ciwidey Kawah Putih (The White Crater)

Kawah Putih is located on Soreang Ciwidey Road KM 38. It is quite a main road in Bandung so the access to this place will be easy. You can also get some public transportation from almost everywhere in Bandung. To enter the location, you need to buy a ticket at the entrance gate for only $2.25 per person.

The crater itself is located about 5 kilometers away from the gate. It is quite exhausting to walk down there so they provide a transportation mode called Ontang-Anting. The car is ready to take you to the crater and take you again to come back to the gate later and you only need to pay $0.75 for both go-and-return trip.

Kawah Putih is a caldera at the bottom of Mount Patuha. The water is colored white at the morning. But as the sun goes up, the color turns to a little bit tosca. At the background, you can see the view of Mount Patuha. The weather is cold in here so do not forget to bring a jacket. Kawah Putih is mostly favored by couples as the atmosphere is kind of romantic.

 

2. Ciater Hot Water

Take your family to Ciater Hot Water to soak yourself in the natural warm water. It is located on Cagak Road, Lembang. It is around 28 kilometers away from the center of Bandung. To enjoy the warm water, they offer various facilities with different prices. There are public pool, private pool, and personal bath tub. The price ranges from $1.1 to $6.

The water in Ciater contains many minerals such calcium, magnesium, chlorides, sulfur, thermo, and aluminum. These minerals are very useful to cure several mild skin problems such as dull skin, itches, and allergy. The minerals are also good to help with several health issues such as hypertension, rheumatics, several nerve and bones problem. The water is also good to avoid stroke and osteoporosis.

Ciater Warm Water Tourism Area also provides many other supporting facilities such as children playground, fishing pool, outbond area, camping area, and even some hotels and bungalows with internet connection.

 

3. Paskal Food Market

Bandung is famous for having various foods and drinks. So if you come to Bandung, you need to taste as much of culinary as possible. Try coming by to Paskal Food Market at Pasir Keliki Road. This place is like a culinary center in Bandung.

This outdoor food market is located right behind the Paskal Hypersquare Mall. At the entrance of the market, there is a water fountain called “Fountain of Hope and Luck” where people can make a wish and throw a coin.

Paskal Food Market claims to have more than 1000 kinds of foods and drinks. Though nobody has ever counted it, but the market indeed has seriously various choices of menus; from traditional foods such as batagor and siomay, to modern ones such as Grilled Rib Beef. Eating out at Paskal Food Market is very much enjoyable due to their affordable price, cozy environment, and pollution-free air.

 

4. Ciwidey Strawberry Field

What can be more fun than having a family picnic to a strawberry field? Thus, make sure to pay a visit to Ciwidey Strawberry Field on Southern Bandung, about 60 kilometers away from the city. Too lazy to drive? No worries. You can take a public bus or elf from Leuwipanjang terminal to go straight to Ciwidey.

The ticket to enter this field is just $0.6 per person. And you will be amazed by the view of fields, farms, and mountain on the background. Nearby the strawberry field, there is also a vast area of tea fields, providing fresh air and cool breeze for you.

The most interesting activity you can do at this field is to pick your own strawberry like it is a harvesting season. You only to pay for about $2.6 to $5.25 for every kilogram of strawberries you pick. The price depends on the quality of strawberry you got on your bucket. There are more than 7,000 strawberry trees at this field so they will not run out of strawberry. But we would recommend you to come by during dry season as the strawberries grow better than during rainy season. Before heading home, do not forget to hop down to a strawberry shop on this area to buy some strawberry-based products to bring home such as strawberry jams, cakes, and sweets.

 

5. Saung Angklung Udjo

Angklung is a traditional musical instrument original from Bandung. The instrument is made of bamboo.  Saung Angklung Udjo is a center of Angklung preservation, education, and performance. Here you can see many kinds of angklung and how those are made. You can also learn how to play it together with the students.

They also hold several showcases regularly to entertain the tourists. Some of the showcases you can enjoy are Wayang Golek (traditional theatrical performance), Tari Topeng (masked dance), Angklung Orchestra, Heleran (a ritual ceremony to thank God), and much more.

Saung Angklung Udjo is located on Padasuka Street. The building is very eye-catching because it is mostly made of bamboo. Entering the Saung will cost you about $7.5 per person for the ticket.

The place is made and owned by Udjo Ngalagena, a legendary traditional artist in Bandung. Udjo has passed away in 2001. The Saung is now managed by his children who also love the art of Angklung music.

 

6. Bandung Geological Museum

Museum is always a perfect place to educate your children in an interesting way. In Bandung, you can take them to Bandung Geological Museum on Diponegoro Road. The ticket costs you only $0.75 per person. The museum is open from 09.00 AM to 15.30 PM everyday except Friday and national holiday. Bandung Geological Museum consists of two floor level.

From this museum, you can see and learn many things about science, geology, and history such as:

7. Kampung Gajah Wonderland

After feeling satisfied with the entire Bandung tour trip, pay one last visit to Kampung Gajah Wonderland before you end your vacation. Kampung Gajah Wonderland is a one-stop recreation park suitable for kids, teens, and adults. The object is located on Sersan Bajuri Road KM 3.8, Lembang. To enter the wonderland, you need to buy ticket for $1.1 on weekdays or $2 on weekends.

Kampung Gajah Wonderland has about 16 kinds of rides including bumper boat, mini ATV, horse riding, 4D riders, skyrider, body cycle and much more. Each ride costs around $1.1 to $7.5. If you plan to take all the rides, you can buy an all-in ticket for $11.25 during weekdays or $19 during weekends.

Besides all those rides, Kampung Gajah Wonderland also has a waterboom. The ticket on weekdays is only $5.6 while on weekends it is $11.25. The ticket includes all the water plays such as wavepool, tornado, octopus racer, and much more.
