Sometimes, there are jobs that require us to sit tight behind the desk, with strict working hour that seem to get us tied to the working desk. But, there are also jobs that allows us to travel for free, or at least, travel for a cheap budget.

For all of you who claim to be a travel addict and is curently unsure in choosing the kind of job to pursue while doing your travelling hobby, try checking out several kinds of jobs which are suitable for real travelers as below.

Let’s start it off with the mainstream jobs first.

1. Pilot/Stewards

It is likely that this kind of job is the most identical with “travelling for free, and even get paid”. Even kids understand that being a pilot or a plane crew would be one of the cool way to get to travel from a place to another, and of course doing some tourism activities between your recess time.

2. Travel consultant

If you feel like you have the skill to sell a tour package and know how to organize or plan a group tour, try checking out this kind of job. Travel consultants usually work for a travel agency, unless you already have your own reputation, then you can try opening up your very own travel consultant business. Besides you get to share your knowledge regarding tourism destination, you can also get to tour with the group member, and of course, you will get paid for it!

3. Travel agent

Just like what have been mentioned above, travel consultant works for travel agency. In another word, travel agency is the bureau that employs other people. If you have financial asset, there is nothing wrong to start a travel agency business with your friends.

As a tips for you, to make your company shines amongst other travel agencies with reputations, try targeting a special segment of market. For example, a travel agency special for honeymoon, or outbond, or trekking, and such thing.

5. Cruise Ship Crew

Similar to pilot / plane crew, being a crew member of cruise ship will also allow you to travel for free to many places that the ship transits to. Well indeed, the risk of it is that you won’t be coming home so often as sometimes a cruise ship has to spend months on the ocean. But if you do love travelling and adventure (while earning money, of course), then this proffession is clearly such a challenging proffession.

And here are the kinds of job that are less mainstream.

1. Auditor

Believe it or not, being an auditor can also open up the chance to travel to various places, as you might be called to audit the companies on other cities, or even countries! Well even though you probably will not get much time to visit exotic places (due to your abundant work as an auditor).

But since an auditor could spend weeks on one place to work, it is not impossible that you will find enough chance for travelling between your working hours, is it?

2. English Teacher

As I have ever written on other thread, even though English is considered as the international language, as a matter of fact there are just a few countries to be familiar with English. But that is what will open up the chance to work while travelling, as long as you are fluent in English.

You can work as an English teacher on an international company, and you probably could even get transfered to teach on the branch office on other country. I have a friend who does this, and his various travelling pictures to many countries have totally made me so jealous!

3. Volunteer

Being a volunteer wouldn’t make any money indeed. At some cases, like being a volunteer in Maldives, even requires you to pay a particular amount of money just so you can be a volunteer.

But, if you count it up, the fare you pay to be a volunteer is so much cheaper because you usually will also get accomodations and foods, and of course you can still explore the city on your spare time. Other bonus is, you can get the chance for charity and get to know better with the locals.

As alternatives, try checking out the programs like WWOOF, Helpx, and Workaway.

Being a photographer is clearly the kind of job that allow you to travel. And if you already have great reputation, you can travel to various places for free, because it is the client who will pay you for it. Or, you can also go with your own money and sell the pictures you capture to the media, or you can also sell them as an expensive piece of art.

Then why do I put photographer and makeup artist in one point? I was inspired by a story of my friend who is a makeup artist (wedding makeup, to be precise). He and his photographer friend have got invited for several times by clients from other regions who were interested in using their skill for their pre-wedding and wedding photoshoot, and of course they will get paid for that (and they can also do some touring between their photoshoot periods).

9. Joining MLM

There must be a lot of cynical response when people hear the word “MLM”, but relax, i am not gonna sell anything with MLM (neither that i join any kind of MLM business). But you must have ever heard their promotions for many times “If you join MLM A, you can travel to country this and that for free”. It may sound too dreamy, but there were really some people who made it to the level of free travelling to various citites and countries. Of course there will be some “terms and conditions applied” for you who wish to travel for free via MLM, and that what needs to be the reason to consider which MLM program you would like to join in.

10. Being A Crew Member of A Popular Celebrity

I once had a friend who was super social and befriended with many celebrities. He ended up getting much asked for help to be the road manager everytime his celeb friends (mostly bands) need to do a road show for places to places. Well if the schedule is too tight, he would indeed have no time for really exploring the city. But at least he could get to do some local culinary tourism. Or maybe you are interested more to be the celebrity itself? That would do….

From so many proffession above, which one that interests you the most?
